In March, less sales than in February.

The Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Chamber (CAFAM) reported that in March 32,016 motorcycles were patented, that is, some 1,548 fewer units than last month. This decrease in sales represents a fall of 54% year-on-year.

So far this first quarter sales reached a total of 108,637 bikes, that is 47% less than the first quarter of 2018. But not everything is negative, according to this report by the C.A.F.A.M. almost all of the motorcycles sold in March, 91%, are of national origin, which is quite understandable considering the rise in the dollar.

As it has been happening for a long time, the most sold machines were of low displacement, about 13.893 of 110 C.C. followed by 150 C.C. with about 6.197.

Like last month, the original brand of Hamamtsu, Honda, remains at the low peak with about 6,308 units, followed by the immovable Motomel, which despite having sold fewer units than in February, still clings to second place with some 4,637 motorcycles. One step below we find Corven, who after selling just 90 more bikes than the previous month, managed to overcome Zanella and placed on the podium with some 4,071 bikes.

As for the provinces that have the most patented bikes, the first positions are the same as in the previous month. The province of Buenos Aires led the way with some 8,795 units, that is, some 278 motorcycles less than in February. Followed by the province of Santa Fe with some 3,443 motorcycles, some 396 fewer units, and in third place the Mediterranean province of Córdoba with about 2,812 units.

Regarding these issues of March, the President of the C.A.F.A.M. Lino Stefanuto said with an inordinate innocence: "Although it seemed that the demand rose a bit in the first weeks of March, then there was a brake as a result of the economic situation in general and, in particular, due to current funding rates that hinder the recovery of sales. In any case, we still maintain optimism; Argentina has its ups and downs and from the sector we commit ourselves to continue with the efforts to overcome the problems we have together "

He added: "Having achieved to regulate the decree to industrialize motor vehicles in the country by incorporating a greater number of national parts in the manufacturing process gives us hope. This, without a doubt, will allow us to start part of the auto parts industry. Some terminals have already started the integration process and we are confident that it will be extended throughout the year. "
