Reopens AutoClásica 2019!!!

Until tomorrow, Monday, October 14 at the Hippodrome of San Isidro visitors will appreciate the classics of all times from 10 to 18 hours. Due to the poor condition of the racecourse gardens, the internal parking will remain CLOSED. In addition, the “Best of Show” awards will be given to cars and motorcycles.

Those who attend the last day of the nineteenth edition of AutoClásica, the largest festival of classic cars and motorcycles in South America organized by the C.A.C., which takes place in the traditional boulevard of the Hippodrome of San Isidro, can enjoy this true party which offers a unique opportunity to relive history through its protagonists: a selection of more than 1000 classic and historical vehicles of carefully selected international category.

 

The awards ceremonies of the "Best of Show 2019" will be held at 11 am. the one of motorcycles and at 14 hs. that of cars. These distinctions to the cars and motorcycles exhibited are evaluated by a rigorous jury that rewards the best of each of the categories of the International Federation of Antique Vehicles (F.I.V.A.). In turn, the special prizes "Germán Sopeña" for cars and the "José Ricardo Larguía" will be awarded to the motorcycles both by choice of accredited journalists who visited the exhibition.


This 2019 edition the motorcycles also have their distinction chosen by journalists which is the “José Ricardo Larguía” Prize for the exhibition exhibition produced from 1913 to 1965, as a way to honor the remembered first director of “Motorcycling, Illustrated Monthly Magazine” , Argentina publication in specialized Spanish and pioneer worldwide on two wheels whose first edition was January 31, 1913 and the last in 1965.

This year, F.I.V.A. selected AutoClásica one of the four events in the world for the 2019 F.I.V.A. Award to be awarded to the Best Preserved Vehicle. AutoClásica is the exhibition with Elegance Contest selected in South America, which joins other Elegance Contests representing North America, Europe and Asia.

 

As every year, AutoClásica presents outstanding exhibitions that renew the proposal and allow to know in depth special themes. In this edition, 100 years of Citroën are celebrated, together with the Citroën Buenos Aires Classics Club; also a century of life of the British brand Bentley; the tribute to the 100 years of the Italian design house Zagato, whose vehicle models have marked it as a legend in the automotive industry; and also in the “Plaza Argentina”, sponsored by the Province Bank, the 50th anniversary of the launch of the Chevy model in Argentina, one of the Chevrolet classics, which took place between 1969 and 1978; and 60 years of traditional MINI.

Sports car racing will always bring emotion and adrenaline to the AutoClásica party. In an outstanding space of AutoClásica 2019, the Class B Rally of the 80's has its place to remember great glories. On the one hand there is the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, developed by Jean Todt, which in 1985 the Argentine Carlos Alberto Reutemann led during that edition Rally of Argentina. The Argentine driver took the wheel of the vehicle after Jean Todt offered to drive him before the accident suffered by the Finnish driver Ari Vatanen. Without having experience in rally, "Lole" obtained third place in that race and his teammate, the Finn Timo Salonen, the first place with the other Peugeot 205 Turbo 16.

 

The other rally vehicle present in Autoclassical 2019 is the mythological Renault 5 Turbo 2 (half car, half monster) of the Group Class 4 of the World Rally, from 1983. This vehicle had been developing since 1979 under the following conditions: it should be Small, agile, light and low cost. Only 200 were made of this vehicle and it had a steel body, a great difference with its predecessor, which made it a little slower than the fast Renault 5 Turbo.

 

At the national level, you can enjoy the restored Numa 2B of the Argentine Sport Prototype category, a vehicle that Carlos Ruesch drove and that had been recovered in 2013 in its Numa IV format. That year he exhibited in AutoClásica as it had been found and today it can already be seen as in his glory years, adding to the recovered national heritage and representing the spirit of Autoclassical.

 

Following the history of Argentine car racing, the Legends Group of the TC is present at AutoClásica 2019 with a tent that exposes several glories that crossed the tracks of our country. The space also has a TC simulator and a Scalextric track for visitor fun. Among the most prominent cars are the Dodge No. 41 of 1994 driver Jorge Roux, a car that also used Juan Antonio "Johnny" De Benedictis, which has a scratch on the body of the race that Roux ran where he is exposed painting scheme that De Benedictis used. There will also be the Ford Falcon No. 2 that in 1995 ran "Johnny" De Benedictis; and Torino No. 154 that the great Rubén Luis Di Palma led in 1989.

For its part, the “Racing 50” tent exhibits cars of the 50s competition or simile type, in which its imposing presence of historic brands cars that participated in repeated races in Argentina is displayed. There you can see Allad J2 of 1952, a Ferrari 166/195 Inter Vignale SO50, a Maserati A6GCS of 1955, Mercedes Benz 300 SL Gullwing of 1954 and Pegasus Z-102 of 1953.

 

One of the great novelties in this 19th edition of AutoClásica is the “Super Autos” tent, a set of vehicles that, although not 30 years old, can be considered classic futures or as they are currently defined as "Super cars. " In this tent you can see models of brands such as Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, Aston Martin, among others. In this sector, a 1998 Dodge Viper GTS-R is exposed, a supercar car manufactured by the Dodge division of the American Chrysler LLC group with V10 engine of great power, 8000 cm3 and 508 hp.
