A BMW R-17 of 1936 was the big winner!!!

The "Best of Show Autoclassic 2019" was taken by an exceptional BMW R-17 and in the part of the cars the chosen one was a beautiful Delage D8 from 1932.

With the assistance of approximately 32 thousand people, the nineteenth edition of Autoclassic, the largest festival of classic cars and motorcycles in South America organized by the Club of Classic Cars of the Republic of Argentina (C.A.C.), was held in the traditional Boulevard of the San Isidro Racecourse from October 11 to 14.

The final touch of this party was the awards ceremony by category and the resolution of the contest to the best of the exhibition in cars and classic motorcycles. A BMW R-17 was honored by the jury with the biggest prize in the show: "Best of the 2019 Autoclasica Show". Of which only 450 units were produced between 1935 and 1938, with 745cc, which had a printed picture. This model was the first motorcycle, along with the R-12, to have a hydraulic fork. The R-17 was the flagship of the brand that led to the production derived from the mythical R-7 that did not produce more than one unit.

 

In the part of the cars a Delage D8 Body Galle Galle 1932 was the jury's favorite.

By 1929 the Delagé brand presents its exceptional D8 model, it was powered by an inline 8-cylinder engine that was the first of its kind, both for Delage, and for the French automotive industry. The 4061cc engine featured a overhead camshaft and a maximum power of 102 HP at 3,500 rpm for the "D8 Normale" and 120 HP in the "D8 S" version. It was offered to its potential buyers, the chassis with its complete mechanics and its instruments to be "dressed" with different body versions. The most famous bodybuilders dressed this Delage model, with different styles of open or closed models and in this case, we can admire this unique and elegant 4-door Saloon that bears the signature of the finest house, as it was: Delagé Du Paris body.

 

The winner of the coveted Best of Show 2019 award was distinguished by the jury as “the best of the show” by virtue of having a unique beauty and harmony of lines, which captivate those who see it, it is like a love at first sight; expose an optimal state of preservation or restoration; be the representative of a brand with a strong presence in the history of the automobile; how also to find out an important personal story; and show enough antiquity to make it a true classic through the ages. The winner made a final three with a Ferrari 250 SPIDER GT 1959 and a Packard 740 Double Windshield 1930.

 

The “Best of Show”, of cars and motorcycles, were chosen by the jury among the first prize winning vehicles of each of the categories F.I.V.A (Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens).

On the other hand, a 1987 FerrariI Testarossa was the winner of the "German Sopeña Award" as "Best Contemporary Sports Car" and a 1969 Honda CB750 Four won the "José Ricardo Larguía" Award for the "exhibition copy produced since 1913 to 1965 ”, both awards were by election and vote of the journalists who visited Autoclásica 2019.

 

Among the stands, the winners in this edition of Autoclassical were: Motorad (Best Motorcycle Stand Award), Ferrari Club (Best Auto Club Stand Award); Oily Ride (Best Autojumble Stand Award); and La Gran Carrera (Best Commercial Stand Award).

 

We celebrate and thank that so many people have approached and accompanied Autoclassical, despite the inclement weather, trusting that they found in the show the best classic vehicles of Argentina and the region.

The decision we made on Saturday was not easy, but we believe it was the most successful so that all visitors could enjoy a high quality exhibition on Sunday and Monday, ”said Engineer Ricardo Battisti, president of the Classic Car Club of the Argentine Republic.

 

This year F.I.V.A. selected Autoclásico as one of the four events in the world to be awarded the F.I.V.A. 2019 to the Best Preserved Vehicle. Autoclassica is the exhibition with Elegance Contest selected in South America, which joins other Elegance Contests representing North America, Europe and Asia.

This true family party, organized by the C.A.C. He proposed a tour that evoked the passage of time through the vehicles - cars, utilities, agricultural machinery, military vehicles - that starred in our history, putting the focus every year on special exhibitions.

 

As every year, Autoclásica presents outstanding exhibitions that renew the proposal and allow to know in depth special themes. In this edition, 100 years of Citroën were celebrated, together with the Citroën Buenos Aires Classics Club; also a century of life of the British brand Bentley; the tribute to the 100 years of the Italian design house Zagato, whose vehicle models have marked it as a legend in the automotive industry; also in the "Plaza Argentina", the 50 years of the launch of the Chevy model in Argentina, one of the Chevrolet classics, which took place between 1969 and 1978; and 60 years of traditional MINI. From sports car racing, exponents of the 80's World Rally and the Legends of the TC are presented.

The 50th anniversary of the debut of the Honda CB750 Four, the first four-cylinder motorcycle, 750cc and 67hp at 8,000rpm of the Japanese brand manufactured in 1969 and one of the most mythical models, already celebrated in the Motorcycle District not only from Honda, but from the motorcycle's own history. Also in that sector you could see copies that forged the story; from the small mopeds to the ones of big motorizations they animate this celebration of the two wheels that is the most important of South America. This year, unique copies of prestigious brands such as Harley-Davidson, BMW Motorrad, Royal Enfield, Vespa, Piaggio, Moto Guzzi, and Aprilia are present; among others. For their part, live band shows, club stands and new spaces are always protagonists of the Barrio de las Motos, which generate a unique and festive atmosphere to live in first person the lifestyle of two-wheel fans.
